The Quiet Between Heartbeats is an original large-scale abstract painting by Lisbon-based artist Anna Rolskaya. Built up in layers of acrylic on canvas, the composition brings together coral, fuchsia, cobalt blue, turquoise, violet, burgundy, and pale pink.

Broad brushstrokes, fluid lines, and overlapping passages of color move across the surface in shifting rhythms. Dense areas of red and pink meet cooler blue and turquoise forms, creating a composition held between intensity and release, movement and suspension.

The title considers the brief interval between one emotional impulse and the next—not as emptiness, but as a charged pause containing anticipation, memory and change. The painting can be displayed in either landscape or portrait orientation, with each position revealing a different direction and rhythm within the composition.
