Frequently Asked Questions About Original Paintings

Clear answers about Anna Rolskaya's original abstract paintings, materials, sizes, display options, worldwide delivery, Lisbon studio pickup, returns and artwork care.

About the artwork

Are the paintings original and one of a kind?

Yes. Every work described as an original painting is a unique, one-of-a-kind artwork created by Anna Rolskaya. It is not a reproduction or mass-produced wall-art print. If an edition or print is ever offered, it will be identified clearly on its own product page.

Who is Anna Rolskaya, and what kind of art does she make?

Anna Rolskaya is a Lisbon-based contemporary artist known for original abstract paintings built through colour, movement and layered mark-making. Her work often combines broad gestural brushstrokes, drawn lines, oil pastel and smaller repeated marks, holding energy and spontaneity within carefully balanced compositions.

Which materials are used?

Materials vary by artwork and are listed on each product page. Many paintings combine acrylic and oil pastel on canvas; others are described as mixed media on canvas. The individual listing is the definitive source for the medium of a specific work.

Is the artwork signed, and does it include a certificate of authenticity?

Yes. Original paintings are signed by Anna Rolskaya and supplied with a certificate of authenticity confirming the artwork's title, dimensions, medium and authorship.

Are the colours exactly the same as they appear on screen?

Every effort is made to photograph colours accurately, including full views and close details. Screen settings, daylight and interior lighting can still change how a colour appears. If matching a particular room or palette is important, email a photograph of the space and request additional images before purchasing.

Are surface texture, visible marks and irregular details intentional?

Yes. Layered brushwork, oil-pastel lines, exposed passages of canvas, drips, scraped areas and handmade variations are intentional parts of the work. Detail photographs are included to show the surface as clearly as possible.

Is a decorative frame included?

A decorative frame is included only when the product title or description specifically says that the painting is framed. A canvas described as stretched and ready to hang is mounted on wooden stretcher bars, but it does not include an additional decorative outer frame unless stated.

Can a painting be displayed vertically and horizontally?

Some paintings are intentionally designed to work in both orientations. When this applies, both vertical and horizontal display are stated on the product page. Add the preferred orientation to the order notes if hanging hardware needs to be fitted before dispatch.

Choosing and buying a painting

How do I choose the right painting and size for my room?

Start with the wall width, ceiling height, viewing distance and the colours already present in the room. Mark the artwork's dimensions on the wall with removable tape to understand its true scale. For personal help, send a clear front-facing room photograph, wall measurements, location and the paintings you are considering.

Can I request a digital room mockup?

Yes. Email a straight, well-lit photograph of the wall, its width and height, and the title of the painting. A simple mockup can help compare scale and placement, although it remains a visual guide rather than an exact colour or perspective guarantee.

Can I see a painting in Lisbon before purchasing?

Studio viewings in Lisbon may be arranged by appointment. Email the titles of the works you would like to see and your preferred dates. Please wait for confirmation before travelling.

Do you accept commissions?

Yes, selected commissions are accepted. A commission can respond to a preferred scale, palette, mood or space while remaining recognisably Anna Rolskaya's work. An exact copy of an existing or sold painting will not be created. Commissioned or clearly personalised artworks are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.

Do you work with interior designers, architects and hospitality projects?

Yes. Curated shortlists, room mockups, commissions and project-friendly pricing may be available for multi-piece or large-scale projects. Visit the interior designers page or email the project location, wall dimensions, palette, quantity and deadline.

Does buying a painting transfer copyright or reproduction rights?

No. The purchase transfers ownership of the physical artwork. Copyright and all reproduction, publication and commercial image-use rights remain with Anna Rolskaya unless a separate written licence is agreed.

Prices, formats and delivery

What is included in the displayed price?

The displayed price includes the original artwork in the selected delivery format, the artist's signature and a certificate of authenticity. If the selected option says “delivery included,” its standard tracked delivery is included as well. Any additional delivery charge for another format or destination is shown at checkout before payment.

Why can the same painting have different format prices?

The variants are different ways of preparing and delivering the same one-of-a-kind painting. A stretched option includes wooden stretcher bars, stretching work, ready-to-hang preparation and substantially larger protective packaging. A rolled option uses a protective tube and does not include stretcher bars. Studio pickup includes the painting stretched and ready to hang but no carrier charge.

What does “tracked delivery included” mean?

It means the standard tracked carrier cost for that exact variant and eligible destination is already included in the artwork price. It does not include a different or more expensive delivery format unless that option also explicitly states that delivery is included.

Do you ship paintings worldwide?

Yes. Worldwide delivery is available from Lisbon for destinations supported at checkout. The available format depends on the painting's dimensions and destination: smaller works may travel flat, while large international orders normally travel rolled in a protective tube.

How are paintings up to 60 × 80 cm shipped?

Paintings up to and including 60 × 80 cm are normally shipped flat, stretched and ready to hang. Tracked flat delivery is included to supported European destinations. Flat delivery to the USA, Canada, Australia and certain other destinations may be offered for an additional subsidised charge shown at checkout.

What delivery options are available for an 80 × 80 cm painting?

An 80 × 80 cm painting may be offered rolled with tracked international delivery included, stretched and ready to hang with destination-specific delivery shown at checkout, or stretched for complimentary Lisbon studio pickup. Only the options available for the customer's market will appear.

How are paintings of 80 × 100 cm and larger shipped?

For international orders, the standard option is normally rolled in a protective tube with tracked delivery included. Stretched, ready-to-hang delivery is offered only to selected European destinations when the carrier accepts the packed dimensions; the applicable charge appears at checkout. Complimentary Lisbon studio pickup may also be selected, with the painting supplied stretched and ready to hang.

What does a rolled painting include?

The original painted canvas is carefully removed from its stretcher bars, protected and shipped rolled in a strong tube. Stretcher bars are not included with a rolled order. After delivery, the canvas should be taken to an experienced local framer to be professionally restretched before display.

Can a large painting be shipped stretched to the USA, Canada or Australia?

Only when a stretched delivery option appears for that artwork and destination at checkout. Because large flat parcels are costly and face stricter carrier limits, rolled delivery is the standard international option. Contact Anna before purchase if a required format is not shown.

How is the 185 × 155 cm XL painting delivered?

Internationally, the 185 × 155 cm painting is shipped rolled in an XL protective tube with tracked delivery included. It may be collected from the Lisbon studio stretched and ready to hang. Due to its size, stretched parcel delivery is not available.

When will my order be dispatched, and will I receive tracking?

Available works normally dispatch from Lisbon within 1–2 business days, and tracking is sent after collection by the carrier. Transit time depends on the destination, format and customs processing. Studio-pickup orders are normally ready within 2–4 days, and collection must be confirmed before travelling.

Will I pay import duties or taxes when the painting arrives?

No additional import duties or taxes are payable by the collector on delivery. For destinations outside the European Union, applicable import duties, taxes and customs-clearance charges are prepaid by the artist under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms.

How does complimentary Lisbon studio pickup work?

Select the Lisbon studio-pickup option when it is available for the painting and market. The artwork is supplied stretched and ready to hang, and there is no collection charge. Pickup is by appointment only; the date, time and exact handover details are confirmed personally by email.

Returns and delivery problems

Can I return an online purchase?

Individual consumers in Portugal and other European Union countries may withdraw from an eligible online purchase within 14 consecutive days of receiving or collecting it, without giving a reason. After notifying Anna within that period, the customer has a further 14 days to return the artwork. See the complete return and refund policy.

Does the 14-day return period apply to an online order collected in Lisbon?

Yes. When the order and payment are completed online, studio collection does not remove the statutory withdrawal right; the 14-day period begins when the artwork is collected. A purchase concluded and paid for in person at the studio does not have an automatic change-of-mind return right.

Who pays for a change-of-mind return?

For an eligible change-of-mind return, the customer pays the direct return cost. For artwork that cannot normally be sent through standard post, the insured return cost is estimated at a maximum of €250 per artwork, depending on size and collection destination. A Lisbon pickup order can be returned to the studio by appointment without a carrier charge.

Are non-EU change-of-mind returns accepted?

Mandatory consumer rights in the customer's jurisdiction always apply. Unless applicable law requires otherwise or a return is agreed in writing, change-of-mind returns are not offered for orders outside the European Union. Damage, faults and material differences from the product description remain covered.

What should I do if the artwork or parcel arrives damaged?

Keep all packaging and contact Anna as soon as possible. If possible, report visible transit damage within 48 hours and include photographs of the outer package, labels, internal protection, complete artwork and close-up damage. This helps with the carrier claim and does not reduce statutory rights. Reasonable return or collection costs for a damaged, faulty or incorrectly described artwork are covered by Anna Rolskaya.

Can a commissioned or personalised artwork be returned?

Commissioned artworks, works made to the customer's specifications and clearly personalised items are not eligible for a change-of-mind return. This exception does not affect legal rights if an artwork is damaged, faulty or not supplied as agreed.

Installation and care

What should I do after receiving a rolled painting?

Open the package carefully with clean, dry hands and avoid placing pressure on the painted surface. Do not reverse-roll, fold or attempt to stretch the canvas without experience. Take it to a professional framer promptly and provide the artwork dimensions shown on the product page.

How should I care for an original painting?

Display the painting indoors, away from prolonged direct sunlight, high humidity, heat sources and sudden temperature changes. Dust lightly with a clean, soft, dry cloth or soft brush. Do not use water, household cleaners or solvents on the painted surface. Contact a professional conservator if deeper cleaning or repair is ever needed.
