The Day We Forgot the Rules is an original large-scale abstract painting by Lisbon-based artist Anna Rolskaya. Built up in layers of acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, the composition brings together coral, pink, turquoise, pale blue, orange, violet, and deep burgundy.

Broad brushstrokes, looping lines, and fragmented forms move through a dense field of overlapping color. Marks collide, disappear and re-emerge across the surface, creating a composition that feels spontaneous, expansive and charged with movement.

The title imagines a moment when familiar structures temporarily fall away. Without fixed rules, color and gesture are allowed to act through instinct, curiosity, and play, holding the painting between freedom and uncertainty, disorder and unexpected coherence.
