She Carried the Morning in Her Chest is an abstract painting by Anna Rolskaya, consisting of layers of acrylic and oil pastel applied to canvas and including the colours sky blue, burgundy, ochre, blush pink, burnt orange, cream and charcoal.

The strokes are smooth, the colours transparent, the lines curving, and the marks spread out as they pass through shapes that appear and vanish. Where the warmer areas meet the cooler blue ones, a composition emerges that is tender and intense, open and full of emotional weight.

The title implies that when you open your eyes, you see a light already active beneath the skin. It represents the warmth and disorder within us, a gentle fire capable of altering the surroundings. Although the painting is soft, this softness is not passive because it has color, breath, and its own internal strength.
