Original painting by Anna Rolskaya Ember

Ember is an original large-scale abstract painting by Lisbon-based artist Anna Rolskaya. Built up in layers of acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, the composition brings together dusty pink, mauve, burgundy, burnt orange, lavender, pale blue, and warm ochre.

Broad painted forms, exposed lines, and partially concealed marks move across the horizontal surface. Softer passages of pink and violet are interrupted by darker areas of weight and flashes of orange, creating a composition held between warmth and restraint, intimacy and expansion.

The title refers to a form of energy that remains after the visible intensity has passed. Rather than depicting fire directly, the painting considers what continues to glow beneath the surface—memory, desire and emotional heat sustained in a quieter state.
