About this painting
About this painting
Before the Flowers Fade is an original abstract painting by Lisbon-based artist Anna Rolskaya. Built up in layers of acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, the composition brings together violet, lavender, ochre, muted green, blush pink, pale blue, and deep burgundy.
Loose brushstrokes, exposed lines, and fragmented organic forms move through areas of raw canvas and translucent color. Shapes gather without fully defining themselves, creating a composition held between emergence and disappearance, intimacy and movement.
The title reflects the urge to remain present with something before it changes. Rather than treating fading as an ending, the painting considers attention, memory and impermanence—the way an experience can become more vivid precisely because it cannot be held indefinitely.
