About this painting

In A Trace of Heart, soft pinks and mauves surround dark, curved fragments of plum, black and olive green. A passage of crimson draws the eye to the lower half of the composition. Broad brushmarks, translucent layers and irregular collage edges give the surface a rhythm shifting between softness and intensity.

The title suggests the marks a feeling leaves behind: an encounter remembered through a colour, a gesture or a detail. Shapes overlap and partially disappear, carrying the sense of a memory that changes each time we return to it.

Original mixed media painting on canvas.
