Original painting by Anna Rolskaya Presence Without Proof

Presence Without Proof is an abstract painting by Lisbon-based artist Anna Rolskaya. The work features layered mixed media on canvas in rust, ochre, burnt orange, burgundy, plum, black, cream, and muted pink.

The painting has sweeping brushstrokes, cascading drips, scraped passages, and overlapping marks, creating a dense, dynamic composition. Dark and luminous sections interact to balance intensity with restraint and movement with stillness.

The title implies that presence can be felt even before it has been verified or explained. The piece leaves room for interpretation, so meaning arises from the use of color, rhythm, and material traces rather than from a specific image.
