Original painting by Anna Rolskaya The Capability of Not Knowing 02

The Capability of Not Knowing 02 is an abstract painting by Lisbon-based artist Anna Rolskaya. Created with layered acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, the composition combines coral, burnt orange, burgundy, teal, deep green, cobalt blue, soft pink, and flashes of yellow.

Broad brushstrokes, looping lines, and overlapping fragments move across the surface without settling into a fixed image. Saturated colour meets darker passages and exposed marks, creating a compact composition that feels energetic, instinctive, and continually forming.

The title continues exploring uncertainty as a capacity. The painting resists the need for a single conclusion, allowing several directions, tensions, and possibilities to remain active at once. Not knowing becomes a state of openness, a way of staying responsive before experience hardens into certainty.
